What Others are Saying About the SF-260

I used to think no light aircraft built today could impress me after flying so much of the pablum that comes from general aviation manufacturers. The SF-260C is the single glowing exception, an exhilerating cure for the boredom that inhabits so much of private flying.

The Marchetti is a high-powered, thrill-a-minute carnival ride on wings. It can perform aerobatics nearly as well as a Pitts…yet the SF is just civilized enough not to overwhelm someone with little time in type. Unless you want to build it yourself, you can’t get that anywhere else.

    - Marce E. Cook, AOPA Pilot Magazine, 1978

Certain criteria have to be met in order to qualify for milspec standards and the 260 comes out right where it should. Control harmony is absolutely first class, like very few modern civil aircraft.

We looked over our shoulders to relish the sight of the Bonanza receding in the slipstream of the 260.

How do the two airplanes compare in handling? As much as I like the Bonanza, the 260 wins my vote hands down. It’s a jet with 12 igniters, and it responds with extraordinary precision to every input.

Everybody has different tastes and everybody sees beauty differently. But, just like you’ll never hear Jennifer O’Neal or Jane Seymour described as being just "Okay," you never find a pilot who doesn’t love the Siai-Marchetti SF-260.

    - Budd Davisson, Model Airplane News, May 1987

Even in full stall, the aircraft can be flown with ailerons effortlessly… Spins are textbook maneuvers – very tight but easy to stop.

SIAI Marchetti SF-260 offers a rare combination of capabilities for the pilot who "wants it all."

    - Don Downie, Private Pilot Magazine, October 1986

As an air show airplane, the SF.260 has it all: speed, power, noise, "presence," a military flavor and a beautiful Frati design. While it is a sweet aerobatic machine, it also is a fast cross-country machine.
